Heather graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy and says that her schooling was what truly showed her where she needed to be in life, and this is it. She graduated near the top of her class with honours (an average of over 90% in all classes).
She also won the school’s Heart Award for leadership, mentorship and clinical excellence, as well as first place in the Massage Therapy Association’s competition for her research report titled “The Effects of Massage Therapy on a Professional Opera Singer with Chronic Pain and Symptoms of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome”.
Heather has spent a lifetime in music, going to university and majoring in performance. She won awards for her compositions and performances, and played with one of the top non-professional orchestras in Canada. It was studying biomechanics (how you use your body while playing instruments or doing your daily tasks) that caught her attention, and it has always been an interest.
Heather believes in creating a team plan for her patients’ health. Her drive for excellence transfers into her work as a Massage Therapist, as she always aims to create the best treatment plan for each individual patient, based on their history and current problems. She incorporates changes in your work positions, stretches and other exercises into the long term plan for the best outcomes.
In her spare time, you can catch Heather dancing Latin and Ballroom with her husband, playing piano and singing, or exploring beautiful Metro Vancouver with its excellent parks, hikes, shops, and restaurants. She also has a passion for travel, and loves to experience new places and cultures.
